Pisces & The
Erosion Factor
Wherever the sign of Pisces {or the sign
and planet that occupies the twelfth house} occurs
in your chart, anywhere in the twelve houses, you will tend to express that 'house" energy indirectly.
The fish pull wildly against each other. The age of Pisces in the West has been characterized as great wealth concentrated in the kingdom & monasteries, and great poverty for all else. And so we begin:
The constellation of Pisces appears as a fish swimming in the waters that pour from Aquarius. In Babylonian times, this star formation was associated with the gods Oannes and Dagon. These were water deities in the form of fish. Also in this constellation is the Leash, upon which were tied the two fish goddesses, Anunitum and Simmah.
In Greek mythology, Pisces is associated with the great beast Typhon. This fearsome creature belonged to the earlier age of the Titans, and was a terrifying force even for the greatest of the gods. At one time Typhon attacked Mount Olympus, the abode of the gods. To escape from his wrath, each deity took the form of an animal. Zeus himself, shifted into the likeness of a ram. Aphrodite, and her son Eros, escaped the beast by transforming into a pair of fish and swam away into the Euphrates river. The goddess Minerva placed the image of the fishes in the heavens so that the event would not be forgotten.
Off to the side of your main area of vision someone who made sure you are watching is whispering into another's ear. Yes, the whisperer is a Pisces.
Every Sun sign reveals how we sit on our throne; with authority command & vitality. Your command position is your sun sign; the power that you are learning while on the planet. The yearly cycle reveals how that power is renewed. As the I Ching says, retreat is not defeat.
The fish pulling in opposite directions create a lot of inner tension for this sign. Pisces is indirect. Rays of light that reach us from the moon are indirectly from the sun.
In this little lyrical trotter of an essay I am concerned with Uranus & Pisces under the banner of erosion. My focus is on four Pisceans: Nicolas Copernicus {Feb 19, 1473 - May 24, 1543} Albert Einstein {March 14 1879–18 April 1955}, Mikhail Gorbachev { 2 March 1931}, and Steve Jobs { February 24, 1955}.

In Astrology, Saturn symbolizes the hardening and crystallization of a situation. The brittleness is shattered with cracks in the mortar by symbolic Uranus. Then Neptune rushes a wave of erosion at the vitally weakened structure and it is no more.
Politics, and science imitate astrology. The beehive of lockstep social structure is created often by Capricorns: Chairman Mao, Richard Nixon, Leonid Brezhnev, and Henry Ford among other Capricorns - built humanity's beehive enclosures.
The get outta prison card {"Promethean" theft of fire from the gods} is handed out by Aquarians: Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, James Joyce, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Amadeus Mozart, Chuck Yeager, Ronald Reagan, Wayne Gretsky and Rosa Parks.
The final erosion of past conditions is embodied by Pisceans: Nicolas Copernicus, George Washington, Gloria Steinem, Ted Kennedy, Rupert Murdoch, Ralph Nader, Albert Einstein, Mikhail Gorbachev and Steve Jobs.
Our robust culture identifies direct aggression and the Greek {Theseus, Achilles, Hercules, Odysseus, Leonidas of Sparta, etc} model as masculine warrior imagery. The Piscean light of the bible and Judaic culture identify the narrative of the husband as masculine and heroic:
"But if any man does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. " 1 Timothy 5:8 ... "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, " Ephesians 5:25 ... "Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them. " Col 3:19
Pisceans gain an understanding & command of authority through indirection. Gifted Pisceans have the ability to calm others by their presence; their aura seems to disperse another's anxiety.

Its been stated quite a few times; what the Mongols feared, they hated, what they hated, they destroyed. Baby, we are all Mongols now.
The two fish in this glyph illuminate the world of duality. When nightmares travel from the last sign to the first - Pisces to Aries - we dream up the 'other', in the fog and then we take action against 'it'. Tribal consciousness is defensive. When Uranus transits Pisces, we resolve the complexities of peace with the simplicity of war. W.B. Yeats characterised war as "terrible beauty". We dream up the hated one while Uranus is in Pisces, then destroy the other when Uranus ingresses into Aries.

- break-down of the U.S. financial system, - crisis which led to the freeing of the currency from the gold standard -establishment of the Social Security Administration.
Uranus in Aries 1843 /1851,
-Mexican-American War - uprisings in Europe, India, China, and New Zealand - U.S. congress passed legislation that proved to be the precursor to the U.S. Civil War.
Uranus in Aries 1759 / 1768,
- Britain’s passage of the Stamp Act—legislation that imposed taxes on the American colonies— rebellion, independence and freedom of the United States.
The Greeks devised the Olympic games as a respite from continuous fraternal bloodshed. Peace broke out during the games. In the ancient Olympic Games, a truce was declared so that what is good and ennobling in humankind would prevail. Our will to power "brave new world with such people in it" denigrates and loathes the slightest touch of wisdom; as if wisdom itself is the most despised virtue.
The second theme of Pisces is erosion: Nicolas Copernicus demonstrated that the Pope wasn't the final authority on Astronomy. George Washington insisted that he was no oriental despot - so please refer to him as Mr. President. Albert Einstein insisted that mathematical relativity ruled the physical universe - overthrowing Capricorn born Newton.

Mikhail Gorbachev pulled the last leg out from under the communist tripod. Steve Jobs washed away the lopsided profits of entertainment corporations. Now that the ipad is out, book publishing is the next icon to be busted up. Uranian Skype and Google are eroding telecom and Microsoft's tendencies to gouge customers who have little or no choice.
I, Water
Ocean & Cosmos are themes that resonate with ubiquity. Pisceans are every and all the signs of the zodiac just as all rivers eventually make their way to Ocean. Astronomers tell us how galaxies are born in immense clouds of hydrogen. Now imagine the element oxygen being created in a supernova by the trillions of tons. These two elements meet as the [1] supernova explodes. They marry and the result is great intergalactic dispersion of water as part of immense nebulae.
Water, in the form of vapour is found on our [3] Sun, within great sunspots. These regions - darker and cooler than the surrounding solar region are larger than our world by many multitudes. As of this writing, six million tons of water ice have been discovered at our Moon's north pole [2].. A similar amount has been found at it's South Pole.
Entire giants worlds are born under this accretion, water worlds. Much of the water this planet contains was born with it. As we push out from womb -earth we encounter Mars with frozen glaciers, a tiny world Ceres with as much water as our oceans, the four Galilean satellites as water worlds, Uranus with electromagnetic steam, Neptune with vast oceans, and a billion Kuiper & Oort cloud objects composed at least by half of water - well you get the idea...
Back here on Spaceship Earth Uranus in the sign of Pisces {2003 -2010} symbolizes climate destabilization, sudden erosion of coastal beaches, and erosion of newspaper publishing, music & book publishing. This is a democratizing trend that includes instant electrical self-medical diagnosis through miniaturization and without billion dollar hospital machines - boomboxes to ipods.
Catastrophe {Uranus} and compassion {Pisces} are on the menu now. When Uranus ingress's into [4] Aries later this year, that can change...
What is to be done?
Pandora's box is a good analogy for Pisces. Yes, Greek myths always insert the fatal flaw into their stories near the beginning; Pandora was explicitly told not to open the box, under any circumstances. Pandora opened her jewel box and unleashes untold horror upon the world. The last item at the bottom of the box was a little hope. What's at the bottom of the last sign of the zodiac?
I say it's compassion, and I could be wrong. In a world that is addicted to eternally perfecting weapons, we do have the healing answer to our long dream of the body: among others
